About us

Mission Statement

The Iranian Cultural Foundation-Houston (ICF-H) is a non-profit, non-political organization with no religious affiliation that fosters the educational, social, and charitable interests of the Iranian-American community. It promotes the appreciation of Persian culture and nurtures a deeper understanding between the Iranian and American communities.

Vision

Our goal is to create an Iranian-American center in Houston that is open to everyone who shares its mission regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, or religion. Our vision is to create a forum where we can:

- Educate the youth about our language and culture
- Provide social and charitable services to our community
- Host forums & conferences
- Hold lecture series, concerts, and plays
- Celebrate Iranian holidays
- Showcase our culture and history
- Provide office space for other Iranian-American organizations

In short, our goal is to create a home for our community where various educational, cultural, and social programs are offered under one roof.

The People

The Board of Directors, currently consisting of 11 members, is responsible for the direction and management of the affairs of ICF-H. The initial Board of Directors has undertaken the task of constructing a cultural center and is currently developing a plan for its new building based on the outcome of a public survey. The survey has also helped the Board of Directors initiate the development of various services and facilities to be provided at this center. Fundraising efforts are also underway. Two inspectors monitor the financial affairs of ICF and ensure the Board’s compliance with the bylaws of the organization. They provide the members with a financial and compliance report at annual meetings. A volunteer legal counsel also assists the Board of Director in legal matters. In the future, the members will elect the Board of Directors and inspectors for a 2-year term at the ICF annual meeting. A director, appointed by the Board of Directors, is responsible for managing and coordinating the organization’s affairs.

Bylaws

The Iranian Cultural Foundation-Houston Bylaws were drafted by a Court-appointed Board of Trustees. Drafts of the Bylaws were distributed (via electronic mail) to the general public for feedback, and modifications were made accordingly. The final draft of the Bylaws was approved on December 15, 2006, by the Texas Secretary of State.
